Spanish court investigates Armstrong

Associated Press  |  Last updated June 13, 2013
The head of Spain's anti-doping agency says the judiciary is investigating a support network that allegedly helped Lance Armstrong with doping while he trained in the country from 1999-2005. Ana Munoz heads Spain's Sports Health Protection Agency, which includes its anti-doping activities. She says that in May 2012 she received a request for help from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency in its Armstrong investigation. Munoz said Tuesday that testimony and other evidence her agency gathered has been presented to Spain's state prosecutor. The evidence is being used by a court to investigate Armstrong and those who may have helped him to win seven Tour de France titles. Those titles were stripped from Armstrong, who has admitted to doping after years of denials.
