On Wednesday, Duquesne’s Dru Joyce III landed his first and second commitments as head coach of the Dukes.

After landing Cam Crawford earlier in the night, Joyce earned a verbal commitment from Canisius transfer Tre Dinkins, one of his top guard targets out of the transfer portal.

Dinkins visited Duquesne over this past weekend, and enjoyed his time on the Bluff.

“I enjoyed my time there,” he told PSN. “They showed love [with] the support system from the staff, [had] great facilities/campus, nice city and it was good vibes. Also, felt like a family atmosphere.”

Dinkins is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound guard out of Chester, Pennsylvania. He spent the last two seasons at Canisius, dramatically improving his numbers in a bigger role this past season. Dinkins played more than 35 minutes per game on average and scored 15.4 points per contest. He shot 41% from the field and 37% from three-point range this year and hit 85 of his 233 three-point attempts on more than seven three pointers attempted per game.

Dinkins initially heard from a long list of programs after he entered the transfer portal officially on March 18. The following programs, and more, reached out to Dinkins upon entry: Miami, Seton Hall, Oklahoma, Indiana, Xavier, and many others.
