Odds are you'll find a good bet for The Open

We highlighted The Open Championship on Monday, but it deserves more attention today given that golf's fourth major tees off tomorrow morning. Whether you bet on winners and placement or play in fantasy golf pools, we can help you get ready for the action here at Bark Bets.

Let's talk about the weather No, we're not running out of things to talk about; it's just something that has to be addressed for a sport like golf. It's been good news out of St. Andrews this week, as the weather is presenting favorable conditions for golfers at The Open. What does this mean? The winds in Scotland have been known to inflict chaos on the course, but it's looking like that won't be much of a factor this weekend. That should help bring about some lower scores, and DraftKings offers over/unders for each golfer's first round. Consider taking a few unders with a potential birdie-fest coming. We like Xander Schauffele to finish under 69.5 strokes in his first round, given that he's won the last two PGA Tour events he's played in.

Determining if we'll see anyone win a second major this year — As the last major of the year, we have a solid base of tournament performance from the year to parse through. Finding players who performed well in previous majors can help you in your bets, and there are three players who are looking to grab another big win this season. Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas and Matt Fitzpatrick all have a chance to win a second major, and of the three, we like Thomas. Thomas's strengths align nicely with this course, and practicing with Tiger Woods this week, who has won twice at The Old Course, could provide the intel he needs to win here on Sunday.

In other news...

Best bets for Dodgers vs. Cardinals tonight — We realize the intro today doesn't quite give us that satisfaction of a wager on today's action. Luckily, Yardbarker's own Jared Shlensky has us covered in that regard with a betting look into the Dodgers-Cardinals game. With NL Cy Young candidate (+1100) Tony Gonsolin toeing the rubber for Los Angeles, we're liking the Dodgers to take care of business in this one. Check out the full breakdown for more bets and reasonings in this National League contest.

Jazz willing to listen to offers for Donovan Mitchell — After shipping out Rudy Gobert for four first-round picks, it seems Utah is willing to blow the whole thing up now. The latest on the rumor mill is that three-time All-Star Donovan Mitchell can be had for the right price. After a few competitive years in the West, it looks like Danny Ainge and Co. are set to begin a rebuild for this Jazz franchise. It's the New York Knicks that appear to be the early front-runner to land Mitchell, or at least try. New York has the draft capital and the young players to propose an enticing trade for Utah. New York is currently +3500 to win the Eastern Conference, odds that will surely skyrocket should the Knicks land Mitchell. Mitchell is +8000 to win MVP next season.

Evgeni Malkin re-signs with Penguins — After a brief stretch where it seemed Malkin was set to play for a new team, he's returned to the only place he's called home in the NHL: Pittsburgh. The 35-year old center agreed to a four-year deal with the Penguins on Tuesday, bringing back a crucial piece of this Pittsburgh roster. After winning back-to-back titles in 2016 and 2017, the Penguins still believe themselves to be Stanley Cup contenders. They recently re-signed Rickard Rakell as well and should remain one of the East's top teams this season. Pittsburgh is currently +2000 to win the 2023 Stanley Cup.
