2025 Shakopee, Minnesota offensive lineman Trey Boyd committed to Northwestern Monday, choosing the Wildcats over top offers from Minnesota, Arizona and Iowa State.

Listed at 6-foot-4, 270 pounds, Boyd is the No. 5 ranked 2025 recruit in Minnesota, according to 247sports' composite rankings, making him the highest-ranked offensive lineman.

He broke onto the recruiting scene as a junior, earning his first FBS offer from Iowa State in November. The Gophers did not offer until March 14, after an unofficial visit, which was six days after Northwestern officially offered.

He still has official visits scheduled with Kansas and Purdue, but Minnesota was heavily involved, hosting him for three different unofficial visits over the last year.

Boyd is now the third top-10 in-state player to commit elsewhere, joining Luke Emmerich (Wisconsin) and Meyer Swinney (California). Minnesota does not have an offensive lineman committed to its 2025 class, so the focus will now shift elsewhere.
