PLAYERS: Tiger Woods

Apparently, Tiger Woods damaged his left elbow while playing at the players championship. He didn’t elaborate in which round he did the damage to his elbow, but said it happened during the players championship. Woods played terrible golf at the Memorial and followed that performance with another poor showing at the US Open. Woods won’t play in the even that benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation. He will miss the AT&T National and he has no plans to play golf until the Open Championship which starts July 18th. This may not be the year the fans see Tiger Woods add to his total of major wins. Woods hasn’t won a major in over 5 years. With his elbow being injured and keeping him from practicing, it is doubtful that he will have a great showing at the British Open. Not only did Woods hit some bad shots in his last 2 tournaments, his putting was terrible as well. I don’t know if his elbow kept him from putting well, but his ability to read the speed of the greens was just as terrible as his last two tournaments. Woods never talked about the fact that his elbow was injured. When he left the Memorial, he blamed his poor performance on the fact he couldn’t get the speed of the greens down. I really don’t think a sore left elbow would stop him from reading greens. This could be an excuse for Tiger to stay home and search for his game that has obviously left him. Only time will tell. If Woods plays poorly at the British open I expect him to miss more tournaments and just play the last major of the season.
