Everyone knew that Bubba Watson bought a new house in Orlando's gated Islewood community and was in the middle of remodeling it but, what nobody knew was that it was his good friend Tiger Woods' old house.

It is the same property where Tiger and his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, had the Thanksgiving night spat which launched the Woods cheating scandal and began the golfer's descent in 2009. You might have heard about it.

"It's true," Watson told Yahoo! Sports about the infamous house where Elin chased Tiger with a golf club. "We closed last summer and we're moving in next Thursday or Friday."

Angie Watson is in Scottsdale, Ariz. with their adopted son Caleb and her parents while they get ready to move into what will become their primary residence. It was completely overhauled in the renovation.

"I looked at probably 50 houses before I looked at Tiger's," Watson said. "A lot of the houses there are old, and we ended up changing everything. We probably saved five percent of it. We built it all around Caleb. There are like three playrooms."

Watson, who shot a second-round 69 at the WGC-Cadillac Championship Friday, is joining a slew of pro golfers who have decided to live in Orlando-based gated communities. He cited a 2012 incident where the Masters champ and his wife were chased through traffic on their way home.

"We've seen things in the news — our world is crazy," Watson said. "And it's nice to have that piece of mind when we take walks or go outside.

"The golf course is really good, too, for me to practice," he added.

Watson — one of the really good guys in sports — deserves that piece of mind.

The new homeowners said they gutted everything inside the lakeside house but didn't knock it down.

If those walls that are still standing could only talk.

Tiger Woods Gets Ball Stuck in Palm Tree on Way to WGC-Cadillac Championship Win (Video)

Tiger Woods‘ win in the WGC-Cadillac Championship was mostly a breeze. That is, until a palm tree got in the way. Woods pushed his tee shot just to the right of the fairway on the 17th hole in the third round at Doral, Fla., and his ball got lodged in a palm tree. Woods was on such a roll, he couldn’t even let the errant shot get in his way. The golfer was able to identify the...

Tiger's 17 birdies is personal best

Tiger Woods is always being compared -- unfavorably and probably unfairly -- to his younger self. The Tiger of 2000 has long been the gold standard, and the conventional thinking is that he won't ever be that good again. To be fair, no one may ever be that good again. But the 2013 version has done something through two days here on Doral's Blue Monster that the young stud...

Tiger Woods builds lead to 4 strokes at Doral

DORAL, Fla. (AP) -- Tiger Woods hit a tee shot that got stuck in a palm tree. That's about the only thing that went wrong for him Saturday in the Cadillac Championship. Woods made seven more birdies on the Blue Monster, the last one from 15 feet on the 18th hole for a 5-under 67. That gave him a four-shot lead over Graeme McDowell, and put Woods in great position to win a World...

Tiger Woods wins Cadillac Championship

DORAL, Fla. (AP) -- Tiger Woods is hitting his stride on his march to the Masters. Woods had full control of his game Sunday and never let anyone get closer than three shots until he had locked up his 17th World Golf Championship title. With a bogey that didn't matter on the final hole, he closed with a 1-under 71 to win the Cadillac Championship. One year ago at Doral, Woods...

Tiger up by 4 heading to final round

The day before the clocks go forward, Tiger Woods wound them back. For the third straight round on the Trump Doral Blue Monster, he played like it was 2000 again. After an impressive Saturday 67 stretched Woods' midway two-shot lead at the WGC-Cadillac Championship to four shots, I asked him if he felt his game now was as good as it was in the glory years. "I don'...

Woods leads WGC by two shots

Tiger Woods set a personal best with 17 birdies over two rounds on the Blue Monster. What mattered more to him was a two-shot lead going into the weekend at the Cadillac Championship. On a leaderboard packed with golf's biggest names, Woods seized control with six birdies in an eight-hole stretch around the turn. That carried him to a 7-under 65, two shots clear of former US...

Woods: 17 birdies, 8 missed greens

Low scores continued Friday at the WGC-Cadillac Championship, where some of the game's biggest names gravitated toward the top of the leaderboard. Tiger Woods will begin the weekend with a two-shot lead over Graeme McDowell. Here are a few things you need to know from Friday's play at Trump Doral: 1. TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER: Woods insisted he "wasn't that far off...

Stricker offers timely tip to Tiger

Steve Stricker is playing a part-time schedule this year. He might consider becoming a part-time putting coach for Tiger Woods. Stricker is among the best putters in golf, and he has given advice to Woods when asked. So when Woods approached him on the putting green on the eve of the Cadillac Championship, they worked together for about 45 minutes. And it seems to have worked....
