Adam Scott is off to another good start in a major, shooting a 5-under 65 for a share of the lead with Jim Furyk after the opening round of the PGA Championship on Thursday. Scott won his first major title at the Masters, and he was out front on the final day of the British Open before fading. The Australian golfer shot a 5-under 30 on the front nine at Oak Hill, taking advantage of a course softened by overnight rain and ripe for the taking. Scott got to 6 under after play resumed following a 71-minute delay. Scott's only stumble came at the 16th, where he missed a 5-footer to take his first bogey. Tiger Woods shot 71 after making a double bogey on his final hole.

Column: In game of misses, Furyk misses least

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By JIM LITKE AP Sports Columnist If golf really is a game of misses, Jim Furyk was having one of those days where he didn't miss much. Despite making his only bogey of the opening round at the last hole, he'd just wrung a 65 from notoriously tough Oak Hill. Furyk deftly navigated his way around an even dozen questions in the interview room afterward...

Furyk: Close but no cigar in major

The pose was a familiar one for Jim Furyk -- buckled over as if he'd taken a punch in the stomach, barely able to watch the flight of the ball. Furyk came up two shots shy of Jason Dufner in the PGA Championship, unable to mount any sort of charge coming down the stretch on a warm, sunny Sunday at...

Adam Scott, Jim Furyk Lead PGA Championship While Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson Struggle at Oak Hill

PITTSFORD, N.Y. — With every major, Adam Scott is making a convincing case that he isn’t satisfied with just a green jacket. Scott ran off five straight birdies early in his round at soft and vulnerable Oak Hill, and finished with a 15-foot par for a 5-under 65 that gave him a share of the lead Thursday with Jim Furyk in the PGA Championship. Scott finally became a major champion...

Tiger Woods at PGA Championship: ‘I’m still right there’

Tiger Woods shot a 1-over-par 71 Thursday at Oak Hill Country Club after he double-bogeyed the final hole. Woods, who trails clubhouse leader Jim Furyk by six shots, had just two birdies, failing to take advantage of the relatively good scoring conditions. “The round realistically could have been under par easily,” said
