PLAYERS: Tiger Woods
Four weeks after the latest chapter in Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia's 15-year bickering match concluded, the two rival golfers seem to finally be putting their differences aside and letting bygones be bygones. OK, or maybe they just shook hands. On Monday morning, Garcia, who made an off-color fried chicken joke joke at Woods' expense during an awards dinner, sought out the world No. 1 Woods at the driving range at Merion, where the U.S. Open will be played this week. The two then shook hands and had a brief conversation. Woods and Garcia's spat goes back a long way, but the most recent dust-up -- before Garcia's chicken joke, that is -- came at the Players Championship in May, when Garcia accused Woods of intentionally distracting him during a shot. Afterward, the two each slammed the other with a series of jabs, though Tiger got the last laugh, as he went on to win the tournament. When asked about Monday's exchange, Woods reportedly told ESPN , "I'm not going there." Both golfers are due to speak with the media at Merion on Tuesday.

Tiger Woods & Sergio Garcia Shake Hands at U.S. Open Practice (Photo)

Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia had yet to meet face to face since Sergio’s now infamous fried chicken comments, so at the very least I think it’s good that the two are ready to put the ugly incident behind them. Perhaps now we can get back to focusing on golf for the both of the two, [...]

Tiger's road to his golf recovery

This week's U.S. Open marks a once-inconceivable five years since Tiger Woods last won a major championship, that victory coming in a memorable Monday U.S. Open playoff against Rocco Mediate at Torrey Pines in June 2008. It's the longest such slump in the 14-time major winner's career, but this year, there's a renewed sense of hope for Woods, who enters the tournament...
