The Michigan State women's tennis team dropped its conference opener to No. 11 Michigan, 7-0, at home. This is the first time this season that the Spartans have both faced a ranked opponent and failed to record a point in a match. The Spartans did however have a doubles victory at the No. 3 position. Redshirt junior Dana Guentert and freshman Hilary Hager defeated Sarah Lee and Kristy Dodge, 8-6.

Michigan State travels to Greenville, S.C., for the fifth straight year this weekend to play in one of the finest baseball parks in all of Minor League Baseball, Fluor Field at the West End. The Spartans will play a doubleheader on Friday, facing Miami-Ohio (2-1) at 1 p.m. and then Furman (2-3) at 5 p.m. MSU will then face Furman Saturday at 4 p.m. and Miami-Ohio on Sunday at 12 p.m.
The Michigan State men's swimming and diving team stands in tenth place after the first day of competition at the Big Ten Championships on the University of Iowa campus.
