Chugging milk followed by splashing it over their head is a time-honored tradition for the winner of the Indianapolis 500.  The act dates back to 1933 when race car driver Louis Meyer pulled into Victory Lane after his Indy 500 win and requested a cold glass of buttermilk to quench his thirst. For more than 70 years, the winner of the race has carried on the tradition, and in 2013 things seem to have gotten pretty specific. ESPN reporter Lindsay Czarniak stumbled across an official race document showing each racer’s preference for what type of milk they want in Victory Circle were they to win the Indy 500. It seems like most of the racers are pretty health-conscious as the majority of them requested two percent milk for their post-race celebration — with 2013 race winner Tony Kanaan being among them.
