summer thoughts

It has been a long, busy summer but I finally had a chance to relax and spend some time with family and friends at my home in Waterloo. It was great and well enjoyed to say the least. Since the summer has been so busy, I haven't had all the time to give some of my thoughts of things that have happened or are happening in the world.......here goes.

First off, a very dissapointing Tigers team took the field. I had real high hoped for this season and up until they got beat three of four by the Jays a few weeks back, still had them taking the Central. Boy was I wrong!! It just goes to show how important pitching is in the Big's!! Our starters are well below average, but still better than what we have had in the pen. As far as run production goes, I like our lineup, but we can't pitch and have trouble fielding...so it has been a long year. I guess there is always next year?

Next, a very dissapointing start to the Mighigan season, but this one was a little more expected. With the giant turnaround with RichRod and the new system and graduation a good core of guys, I expected a tough season, but still thought a win over Utah in the Big House could be salvaged? I guess, I hope that the team has some good wins over some rivals and builds strong for the future...I guess we'll see. I for one, will miss Lloyd Car.

The Olympics...All I have to say is that what Phelps and Usain Bolt did are two of the best performances we will EVER seen. I cannot beleive what they accomplished!! The most exciting moment for me, was wathing Bolt dominate the 100m, and then take flak for his actions just to go ahead an dominate the 200m....finishing hard and taking home yet another record. I didn't have time to watch too much of the Games, but did think that Beijing did a great job and that Canada had a good showing after getting out of the gates slow....

I guess with all this being said, I am so looking forward to the start of the NFL season. I am in a pool every week and would more than welcome sound advice as to who to pick, so feel free to pass along you thoughts throughout the season, and I will keep all of you guys posted on my progress.

All for now,

Cheers,

Colin #7

Who do you like in the NFL this year? See if you do better than your Tigers pick.

Of course, I love the Lions, I just don't like their chances. I'll start making some picks when the season gets going. Until then, GO LIONS!!

I think the Lions will do well and are in position for their division. Kitna is quality and had a great year, Williams is ALL PRO with McDonald as a backup and Furrey there also. Now the have added Rudi Johnson to shore up the running game. I have Kitna as my starter in my fantasy league and hoping to pick up Rudi.

I picked Peterson last year and LOVED it. This year I am picking Ray Rice.

Good Luck at the Mann Cup. Pass on my get well wishes to Jr.

Cheers
