Found January 17, 2008 on The Fantasy Baseball Guy:
Teixeira
Although the Free Agent list is a great tool to potential get guys who may break out in a contract year, see Andruw Jones. This poor guy wanted millions, the big contract, and flopped last year.

 • I was hoping the Red Sox would sign Nomar!!!, My team is gonna suck against the powerfull Yankees, Nomar would have been our best hitter at 292, with 9 hrs this year

Arbitration avoided for Teixeira, others.

The Braves signed Teixeira to a one year deal late Thursday, totaling $12.5 million dollars in 2008. Whether or not the Braves can sign Teixeira to a long-term contract is yet to be seen.

Braves Rotational Preview

BravesBlast takes a look at the different candidates for the Braves rotation this coming year. The Braves will likely have a decent rotation, but best-case, we'll tell you why it could be one of the most potent in all of baseball.

Do the Braves have too many outfielders?

Cheyanne wrote the Mailbag yesterday with the following question: With the Braves acquisition of Mark Kotsay what is the chance that Willie Harris or Brandon Jones is traded to get some more relief pitching? Well first off, Cheyanne, thanks for asking a question - you get two entries into the Kelly Johnson autographed ball contest, as do all mailbag participants. We don...

Andruw Jones Apologizes for Stinking Last Year, Showing Up Overweight

I will comfortably say that Andruw Jones? legacy is forever tarnished, especially in the case of LA fans. He will never be able to get past what he did (or didn?t do) last season. After signing a two-year deal for around $36 million, he showed up to camp in horrible shape, easily 250-plus [...]

Aybar to Rays for Relief

Willy Aybar was once a highly touted prospective infielder, but after a year of substance abuse issues, the Braves have dumped him for a left-handed relief pitcher who has a chance of making the big league team this spring.

What They STILL Need: NL East

Atlanta Braves - Healthy Mike Hampton, Healthy Mike Gonzalez, RH hitter off the bench, Hope that Andruw Jones’ defensive value was highly overstated With their recent acquisition of Mr. Jamie Kotsay to patrol centerfield, the Atlanta starting lineup appears to be set. We can quibble with the t...

Dangerously Close to A Manny Deal... Key Word: Dangerously

Raise your hand if you haven’t had enough Manny drama in the last few years... Lord knows that I haven’t. The man has certainly burned some bridges in Boston, and something tells me that Clevelanders aren’t exactly writing him in for Mayor. But for Dodgers fans, Manny’s act hasn't quite run its course… yet. His most recent contract hijinks are still...

Around The Web: Manny Aftermath

Fan Graphs: Dodgers overpaid for Manny Ramirez, but it was probably necessary. I was gonna do analysis like this, but I had midterms. :o My conclusions are somewhat similar anyway.Ump Bump: Nick Kapur reviews the Dodgers' off-season moves. He gives it a B, and I have to agree. Ned Colletti is still bad, but he hasn't made a truly disasterous move in the last 6 months...

Don Mattingly Is Finally Coming To Los Angeles

While I think he could still probably hit better than Andruw Jones, he's actually coming back to be the Dodgers' hitting coach. "With the Dodgers' offense ranking among the worst in the league, the club is expected to change hitting coaches at the All-Star break by replacing Mike Easler with Don Mattingly, according to sources close to the situation who requested...

Jones Says He Can Correct His Swing

Andruw Jones, meeting the Los Angeles media for the first time, was prepared when asked about his sub-par -- for him -- 2007 season. "I know the struggles I had last year, and it was a difficult season," Jones said. "I looked at a lot of film. The main thing was that my balance was messed up. I was t...

Dodger Thoughts: Well, He Was

But now Andruw Jones is 0 for 3 through five innings tonight, while the rest of the Dodger lineup is 13 for 23. I guess if you've gotta be wrong ...

So Who's Really Left?

The not-so-surprising revelation that A-Rod took performance enhancing drugs for a few years, along with the information that upwards of 100 other players tested positive in 2003 brings up many issues and questions, but I just want to focus on one. Are there any pure home-run hitters left out there that are above suspicion of steroid use?I'm writing this without doing any...

Let's All Laugh At The Former Dodgers

I think I should kick this off with awesome news about Brad Penny."Boston Red Sox pitcher Brad Penny was scratched from his first scheduled spring training start because of shoulder weakness.'I don't think the shoulder strength was quite where it needed to be yet for the workload I was doing,' Penny said. 'It's better to take it easy right now than to get...

Torii Hunter Better Bargain than Andruw Jones?

Preliminary impressions on the young season seem to confirm various opinions that the Angels $18-million-a-year deal with Torii Hunter will easily outshine the cross-town Dodgers $18-million-a-year deal with Andruw Jones, not only because of Hunter's superior hitting but perhaps even his fielding as ...

Why the Dogers are Screwed: ManRam, Andruw, Pierre, Ethier, and Kemp... WOW

Manny Ramirez, Andruw Jones, Juan Pierre, Andre Ethier, and Matt Kemp will now have to share an uncomfortable outfield... which should make for great, whiny television. Good thing they sunk so much money into Andruw and Juan
