I would expect the following to happen over the next few weeks:
1. NO LATER THAN THE 4TH BUSINESS DAY FOLLOWING CONCLUSION OF WORLD SERIES: Clubs must decide whether to add any of their Rule 55 minor league free-agents to the 40-man roster.
Probably the only Cubs candidate is RF Brad Snyder, who could be another Garrett Jones or Casey...

With the Ricketts Family finally taking control of the Chicago Cubs last week, "Movin' Milton" gained a lot of momentum on Saturday. As first reported by Bruce Levine last Tuesday, the Cubs and Toronto have had discussions about possible trades ... and according to Levine two of the names that have been discussed are Milton Bradley and Vernon Wells.

I'll go through a few more lower level free agents this week and pick it up to some possible bigger names next week. As we know, there's talk that if the Cubs can move Milton Bradley, they'd put Kosuke Fukudome back to right field and try and improve the outfield defense with a more true center fielder. And that's where Mike Cameron comes in...

Our friends at MLBTR are all over this John Grabow story. Apparently the Cubs want to extend
the guy's time with the Cubs via a two-year deal worth $6 or 8 million.
The
31-year old Grabow came over from the Pirates in the Tom Gorzelanny
trade late this past season. And when he pitched, he was mostly, like,
kinda OK.
The ERA was fine, I guess, at 3.36...

New Cubs owner Tom Ricketts did an appearance on NPR on Saturday morning (here's the related article). This is great news for Cub fans who are hungry to learn about what his plans are, but it's terrible news for people who were hoping for an exciting interview. (NPR, I love ya, but you're a little too serious for my tastes.)
