Last Thursday, I took a look at the Louisville Bats projected roster for 2012. Today I am looking at the projected roster for the Reds newest farm affiliation, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Double-A). Below, is my projected roster for the Reds, Bats and Blue Wahoos.

Pensacola Louisville Cincinnati C Mark Fleury Corky Miller Devin Mesoraco C Kevin Coddington Dioner Navarro Ryan Hanigan 1B Joel Guzman Neftali Soto Joey Votto 2B Brodie Greene Henry Rodriguez Brandon Phillips 3B Mike Costanzo Todd Frazier Scott Rolen SS Didi Gregorius Paul Janish Zack Cozart LF Josh Fellhauer Daryl Jones Chris Heisey CF Ryan LaMarre Denis Phipps Drew Stubbs RF Cody Puckett Bill Rhinehart Jay Bruce BN Stephen Hunt Kristopher Negron Juan Francisco BN Miguel Rojas Danny Dorn Ryan Ludwick BN Felix Perez Chris Valaika Wilson Valdez BN Jose Castro Willie Harris Miguel Cairo SP Matt Fairel Aroldis Chapman Mat Latos SP Pedro Villarreal Clayton Tanner Johnny Cueto SP Josh Ravin Scott Carroll Homer Bailey SP JC Sulbaran Chad Reineke Bronson Arroyo SP Tim Crabbe Sean Gallagher Mike Leake SP Mark Serrano Luis Atilano Ryan Madson RP Clayton Shunick Nick Christiani Sean Marshall RP Donnie Joseph Jeremy Horst Nick Masset RP Jordan Hotchkiss Jordan Smith Bill Bray RP Justin Freeman Andrew Brackman Jose Arredondo RP Tim Gustafson Josh Judy Logan Ondrusek RP Brandon Hynick Kanekoa Texeira Sam LeCure

The rosters are set at 25 players above, but not all of the teams use such a roster. However most teams will often have a guy or two “extra” who are with the team but not active. Injuries or a release will likely make a guy or two fit the roster as well. There are 6 starters listed, though one guy will wind up in the bullpen. Of the guys for Carolina, I would imagine it would come down to Tim Crabbe, who spent time in the bullpen last year at times or Mark Serrano, who is a bit of an older guy who I think could project well from the bullpen.

There is a lot of interesting names on the roster for the initial team if I am close to accurate.  There is a lot of upside in that starting rotation with four of the potential starters all within the Top 40 Prospects from the 2012 Prospect Guide. Position wise, there are only 3 guys from the Top 40, but two are inside the Top 20 while some older prospects like Mike Costanzo and Joel Guzman could provide strong production in the middle of the line up if past production can hold up.
