Found March 21, 2012 on The Outside Corner:
The Tigers won the AL Central last season after the Cleveland Indians decided that they were sick of first place in May, and started to fall apart. The Tigers machine steadily rolled on, and they advanced to the ALCS, where they were defeated by the Texas Rangers. The team was led by AL Cy Young and MVP award winner Justin Verlander, who had a rather dominant season. With the addition of Prince Fielder to a Tigers lineup that includes Miguel Cabrera, this is clearly the best team in the division. Miguel Cabrera Leaves Spring Training Game After Being Hit In the Eye

The entire Tigers fanbase had a minor heart attack today when Miguel Cabrera left their Spring Training game against somebody (seriously, who cares?) after being hit in the eye by an errant ground ball. If you like blood and stuff, video is here. He went to a nearby hospital for x-rays, which were negative. He did receive a few stitches and what I can imagine will be a pretty nasty...

Justin Verlander has had a busy off-season. The Detroit Tigers ace made an appearance on Conan in January, when he divulged his love for Taco Bell. This past month, he was featured in two sizzling ads for MLB 2K12, both starring 2012 Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model Kate Upton. The most recent one features Verlander pretending to be former ace Randy Johnson, only to be outed...

Will Fister-y repeat itself?

By STEVE KORNACKISpecial to FOXSportsDetroit.com LAKELAND, Fla. -- Doug Fister delivered in 2011 what the Detroit Tigers had hoped to get from Jarrod Washburn in 2009, and what they received from Doyle Alexander in 1987. Fister was the trade deadline shot-in-the-arm to a contender that needed his 8-1 record and 1.79 ERA to win the Central Division title. Now, with a new season...

Non-Displaced Fracture of the Orbital Floor

From Lynn Henning's update on Miguel Cabrera's injury:Neither the Tigers, nor Cabrera, expect that last year's American League batting champion will miss Opening Day, April 5 at Comerica Park.Am I in the minority thinking that MiggyCab won't be ready for Opening Day? It wouldn't be the first time, but then again, I think of the words "non-displaced fracture...

Miguel Cabrera bloodied after taking ground ball to the face (Video)

Brace yourself, Prince Fielder — Miguel Cabrera might want his old position back. They don’t call it “the hot corner” for no reason, and Cabrera was reminded of that during the Tigers spring training game against the Phillies on Monday. As you can see from the photo above that @WorldofIsaac shared with us, Cabrera ate a ground ball that took a nasty hop off the grass during...

Post-Prince Brewers can win with Braun, pitching

Prince Fielder is gone. Hope for the Milwaukee Brewers to win the NL Central and make another playoff run remains very much in place. Yes, the Brewers will miss Fielder and the way his presence in the middle of the lineup made opposing pitchers sweat. But the team expected him to leave as a free agent all along, so it wasn't a shock when he signed a $214 million, nine-year contract...
