courtesy of mlb.com David Wright will host and entertain the home folks of Citi Field park by participating in next weeks home run derby, on Monday, July 15,2013.    Wright, who represents the New York Mets is batting .306BA 13HR 43RBI .394OBP , will also be team captain for the National League.  As team captain, Wright has chosen three other National League players to participate in the home run derby. David Wright has chosen Carlos Gonzalez, Michael Cuddyer , and Bryce Harper. Carlos Gonzalez is in his fifth season for the Colorado Rockies batting 304BA 24HR 63RBI .369OBP.  Gonzalez is currently leading the National League in home runs with 24. Michael Cuddyer is in his 12th season also playing for the Rockies batting .337BA 15HR 52RBI .. Cuddyer had a 27 game hit-streak just broken recently and is the most underrated player in the game. Bryce Harper is one of the best young phenom players in the game playing for Washington Nationals batting .274BA 13HR 29RBI .375OBP. Harper started the off on fire but has succumbed to injuries that placed him on the DL for a while, but he is still a fan favorite. Robinson Cano, who is a member of the New York Yankees batting .293BA 20HR 58RBI .374OBP , will represent the American League team as captain and he also will participate in the home run derby as well. Robinson Cano has chosen Prince Fielder, Chris Davis, and third pick is still pending. Prince Fielder is in his eighth season playing for the Detroit Tigers batting .266BA 15HR 66RBI .361OBP.  Fielder is a two-time home run derby champ that will definitely put on a show. Chris Davis is in his fifth season playing for the Baltimore Orioles batting .320BA 33HR 85RBI .395OBP. Davis’ 33HR is his season total and career high from last season. Chris is the talk of the baseball and will challenge Miguel Cabrera in a two-man race for the American League MVP. Robinson Cano hasn’t named his third participant as of yet, he is still waiting for confirmation. There is know clue as of yet who may be his selection.
