It took a single extra inning but the Red Sox took 3 out of 4 games against the Mariners in Seattle. The team rallied from a 4 run deficit in the 3rd inning and won 8-7 in what was a battle of offense. Here are the stars of the game:
Star 3: Brad Miller
Miller, who hit at the top of the lineup for the Mariners did everything a mannager would want from a leadoff man, going 2-5 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Millers RBI came on a ground rule double in the 2nd inning off of Dempster.
Star 2: Jacoby Ellsbury
Ellsbury got the Sox off to a quick start, hitting a home run with the first swing of the game. He went 2-4 with 2 RBI and 1 run scored. His home run was the 3rd of the year and his 2 RBI's brought his total up to 33 on the year.
Star 1: Steven Wright
After a terrible performance by Dempster, Wright came in and dominated the Mariners lineup. He pitched 5.2 innings of relief allowing only 3 hits and 0 runs. He walked 2 batters and struck out 3. Wi...

Youth propelling change
When Jack Z took over the reigns of the Seattle Mariners front office, he asked for patience. He wanted to build a talent laden farm system that would eventually translate to a young, exciting team that would finally put the Mariners in contention once again. Well, Mariner faithful, it seems that time is approaching.
With the call ups of both SS Brad Miller...

highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as
satisfying as a good morning dump.
With Red Sox starter Ryan Dempster struggling mightily, manager John
Farrell summoned Steven Wright in the fourth inning of a marathon
matinee against the Mariners.
Seattle had already scored six...
Steven Wright just made a name for himself.
Wright, who was recalled by the Red Sox on Wednesday, was a candidate to start Sunday’s game in Oakland, but that’s presumably no longer the case. Instead, opportunity knocked early, and Wright accepted the challenge with open arms, perhaps setting himself up for an even larger role amid a fluctuating pitching situation.
The Boston Red Sox have recalled right-handed reliever Pedro Beato and knuckle ball right-handed reliever Steven Wright from their Triple-A Pawtucket farm club.
To make room on the roster, the Red Sox have optioned right-handed starters Alfredo Aceves and Allen Webster to the same minor league affiliate.
Look for Beato and Wright to work the middle innings with Wright having an outside...
It’s back to Triple-A for Steven Wright.
The Red Sox announced that Wright, who dazzled in relief on Thursday, was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket to make room for the newly acquired Matt Thornton.
Wright pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen against the Mariners on Thursday, but the Red Sox acquired Thornton in a trade with the White Sox on Friday. Boston sent minor...
While it was Daniel Nava that provided the hit to give the Boston Red Sox an 8-7 win over the Seattle Mariners on Thursday afternoon at Safeco Field in Seattle, WA, it was really Steven Wright's pitching heroics that really gave them the win.
After Ryan Dempster started the game and allowed seven runs (four earned) in just 3.1 innings of work, it was Wright who rescued them...
The Boston Red Sox added needed depth to its bullpen calling up right-handers Steven Wright and Pedro Beato.
The Red Sox made the moves Wednesday before facing the Seattle Mariners. Boston optioned starter Allen Webster and reliever Alfredo Aceves to Triple-A Pawtucket to clear roster spots.
The decision to send out Webster leaves the Red Sox needing a starter for Sunday's...
After sitting out two games with a wrist injury, Jacoby Ellsbury is back in the Red Sox lineup Wednesday, hitting leadoff and patrolling center field.
Daniel Nava and Jackie Bradley Jr. took over the center field duties in Ellsbury’s absence and got their fair share of conditioning in the two games due to Seattle spraying the ball all over the field. The Mariners have put up 19...
Having a hard time keeping track of all of the Red Sox’ recent roster moves? You’re not alone.
The Red Sox announced two more moves Wednesday as they continue to shake up their roster based on team needs. Allen Webster and Alfredo Aceves have been optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket, while Steven Wright and Pedro Beato have been recalled.
Webster was lit up in Seattle on Tuesday....
All of the Red Sox backup players must live in a day-to-day fear of being optioned to the minor leagues at any moment. The Sox have been playing “roster roulette,” as the Globe’s Pete Abraham called it, and haven’t been afraid to make changes when they need to. Most recently, they optioned Allen Webster and Alfredo Aceves for Steven Wright...
