BEST OF MAXIM
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here...
highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as
satisfying as a good morning dump.
Ortiz has spent the better part of his career making the Twins pay for
their repression. He entered Saturday's game with a career .323 average,
13 homers and 37 RBIs in 52 games against Minnesota...
If good things come to those who wait, Ryan Lavarnway has a successful big league career ahead of him. The young catcher currently has a chance to lay some groundwork.
Lavarnway is a player in flux. The Red Sox’ signing of veteran backup catcher David Ross to a two-year deal in the offseason meant that Lavarnway, once considered Boston’s backstop of the future, was looking at...
Before David Ortiz was Big Papi, he was a Minnesota Twin. But, the Twins let him go, and he seems intent on reminding them of that mistake every time he faces his old squad.
Ortiz, a career .332 hitter against Minnesota pitching, added another couple twists of the metaphorical knife this weekend. Big Papi blasted two home runs on Saturday, marking the 42nd and 43rd homers against...
Ryan Lavarnway took a tough shot from Ryan Doumit on Saturday night at the plate, and he impressively held on as the Twins catcher attempted to jar the ball loose from the Red Sox catcher’s mitt.
On Sunday afternoon, Lavarnway took some tough questions from Smithfield, R.I., little leaguers. The young players grilled Lavarnway on why he likes catching, what gear he uses and how...
Remember that slump David Ortiz went through? That was pretty funny, huh?
Ortiz had a monster game as part of the Red Sox’ 12-5 win over the Twins on Saturday, and in the process, he effectively reassured us that his slow start to the month of May isn’t anything to be concerned about.

It wasn't all roses for Boston this evening, but there was much to be excited about (including getting to watch David Ortiz absolutely crushing baseballs). The most notable stat from the game was that Boston scored 12 runs on 13 hits. That's awesome...
The Red Sox were leading the Twins 3-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning on Sunday, when the heavens opened up above Target Field and the rain came down. Two hours later, the teams were still being held hostage by Mother Nature, waiting to hear if they would get a chance to resume play.
David Ortiz is tired of waiting around.
The Red Sox designated hitter tweeted his...
David Ortiz continues to slug and he certainly let his former team experience just that on Saturday night. Ortiz would account for half of the 12 runs scored by Boston in its 12-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
Beginning in the first-inning, Ortiz launched a one out, three-run home run to right field off of Scott Diamond, scoring Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia to give the...
The Red Sox were leading the Twins 3-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning on Sunday, when the heavens opened up above Target Field and the rain came down. With a Monday night game in Chicago, the Red Sox were certainly hoping the delay would be brief -- or the game would be called.
Well, two hours later after the delay began, the teams were still being held hostage by...
Game 43: Ortiz making pitchers look sloppy!
David Ortiz had a field day against his old team, and again made them wish they never got rid on him in 2003. Papi had three hits, drove in 6 runs, and powered a lineup that finished with 13 total hits. All players but Pedro Ciriaco had at least one hit in the game. Papi's great performance helped out Ryan Dempster...

The Sox are banged up in a number of ways with Shane Victorino with a back injury and short stop Stephen Drew out after also sustaining a back injury Friday night in Boston’s extra-inning win over the Twins. Pedro Ciricao gets the starting...
Now that the Boston Red Sox have bounced back from their recent slide, they hope John Lackey can end his losing streak.
The right-hander hopes to avoid dropping a fourth straight start while trying to help the visiting Red Sox to their fifth win in a row Sunday against the slumping Minnesota Twins.
