Mets Merized Online:
The Mets win a three game weekend series against the Rockies, taking the rubber game 6-5 in eleven innings. This was a really strange series where we pretty much saw the unexpected. The Mets scored 9 runs on Friday night, only to see the Rocks score 18! One guy hit for the cycle, another hit a grand slam pitch hit home run, certainly not your generic, run of mill series.
Johan & Gee: On Saturday night Dillon Gee pitched a great game, giving up only 3 earned runs in seven innings. Considering the Mets gave up 18 runs on Friday, the bullpen was in need of a rest, and Dillon’s performance allowed just that. As good as Gee was Johan was even better, going 6 innings and giving up no runs on Sunday afternoon! Sadly, Johan got a no decision in the game, and it’s looking like he’s going to be this year’s hard luck pitcher.
Ruben Tejada: Ruben Tejada was a hitting machine this weekend, going 10 for 15 against the Rockies pitchers.
Scott Hairston: In the weird game on Friday night...

Dillon Gee took the hill to square off against the Rockies rookie hurler Guillermo Moscoso in the second game of the three game set in the Mile High City. Gee, coming off an awful start, came to play tonight, hurling seven frames allowing four runs (3 earned) on seven hits while punching out seven, picking up his second win of the year. Moscoso however didn’t enjoy the...
The Mets will try to put last night’s ugly game behind them today as they take on the Rockies in game two. The positive from last night would be Hairston, who hit for the cycle, the first from the Mets since 2006 when Jose Reyes did the same feet. Besides that, last night was a wash of bad defense and bad pitching (and bad pitching for both teams). The Mets will call on Dillon...
After a horrific 18-9 loss last night, the Mets came back with a 7-5 victory over the Rockies this evening to take game 2 of the 3 game weekend series. Dillon Gee pitched very well, going 7 innings with 7 strikeouts, allowing 7 hits and 3 earned runs. His ERA for the season 4.85.
Murphy and Wright each had 3 hits, but Thole’s 10 game hit streak came to an end today going 0...
After nine great years, Jose Reyes moved on from the New York Mets. While I, like most, was sad to see him go, the play of Ruben Tejada thus far has made him leaving much easier to cope with. During the New York Mets 6-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies yesterday afternoon, Reyes predecessor collected three hits in six at-bats becoming the first Met since Edgardo Alfonzo 12...
Ruben Tejada collected his second 4-hit game of the season last night in Colorado, but Jose Reyes has yet to collect his second 4-hit week as the first month of the season comes to and end. He got the game off yesterday so he could have a mental break and get some rest. He is batting .205 and has only 3 hits in his last 26 at-bats after going 1-12 against the Mets. There’s...
DENVER -- After using five relievers for five innings Friday night in an excruciating loss, the Mets sent Dillon Gee to the mound Saturday. They were hoping he could restore order against the Rockies at Coors Field and complete a specific task. "We needed some innings, there was no question," Mets manager Terrry Collins said. "Dillon was going to have throw 100 pitches...
After tonight’s series win against the Rockies, the Mets filed out of the clubhouse one by one dressed in western garb as they head down to Houston, Texas for the start of a three game showdown with the Astros.

The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies 7-5 tonight behind strong offensive showings from Lucas Duda, Daniel Murphy, Ruben Tejada and a strong start from birthday boy Dillon Gee.The Mets hopped on the board in the top of the 1st frame after Lucas Duda scorched his 4th home run of the year, a 2-run shot, that drove in David Wright to bring the Mets up 2-0. Duda would contribute...
This season Jose Reyes is making $10 million. Ruben Tejada is making $491 thousand.
Or, $625,000 per Reyes hit this year. $17,500 something per Tejada hit.

Why pay $625K per hit when you can pay $17.5K per hit? Good job Mr. Alderson. Thanks for not giving a bad contract to Jose Reyes.

DENVER - After using six pitchers Friday night in an excruciating loss, the Mets sent Dillon Gee to the mound Saturday to restore order against the Rockies at Coors Field. He succeeded by giving them seven innings and throwing a career-high 116 pitches as the Mets beat the Rockies 7-5. Lucas Duda hit a two-run homer and drove in four runs, and Ruben Tejada, Daniel Murphy and...
Much has been made in the media about the abundance of home-grown players starting on a regular basis in the Mets lineup. From Tejada to Murphy, Thole to Duda, and Ike to Kirk, up and down the entire lineup features players drafted and groomed by the Mets minor league system. It kind of brings a feel good story for us long suffering Mets fans. It definitely makes it a little...
