Trade Deadline News: In the biggest deal of the day (for the Indians) the Tribe moved top pitching prospect Steven Wright for the Red Sox AAA first-baseman Lars Anderson. Wright is a knuckle-baller that has played the entire season with AA Akron so far this year and has dominated. Anderson has some major league experience. In three postseasons Anderson has a .167 batting average over 30 games. Anderson looks just like the minor league left handed hitter the Indians were looking for the whole time. Player of the Game Jeremy Accardo runs away with tonight's Player of the Game with a score of 2.27. Accardo pitched the 6th and 7th innings in tonight's loss. In his 2 innings pitched, he gave up a single and struck out 2 batters. He now has 3 awards on the season. This outing was especially important as the Indians look to mix things up with their pitching staff in the upcoming week. Feathers Up The Indians announced today that Josh Tomlin will not be making his scheduled ...

MLB Report: Indians Designate Lowe for Assignment

Derek Lowe has pitched himself out of the Indians’ rotation and off the team. Following Wednesday night’s loss to the Royals, the Indians designated Lowe for assignment. Being called up to join the rotation is Corey Kluber. Lowe started the season strong, but has had a brutal two months. Tuesday’s poor outing was apparently the last straw- “Lowe — acquired in an offseason...

Indians face KC, but will Choo be there?

Shin-Soo Choo has been the Cleveland Indians' top hitter this season, and he's had plenty of success on the road against the Kansas City Royals throughout his career. Whether he'll be in Cleveland's lineup when its three-game series begins Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium remains to be seen. The fading Indians have watched Chicago and Detroit make bold moves to improve...

Indians designate Derek Lowe for assignment

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Cleveland Indians designated Derek Lowe for assignment Wednesday night, one day after the veteran right-hander was shelled by Kansas City. Lowe gave up seven runs on eight hits, two walks and a balk over 2 1-3 innings in Cleveland's 8-3 loss Tuesday night. He had lost four straight, had a 15.88 ERA in his last three starts and an 8.80 ERA in his...

Shin-Soo Choo gaining interest from teams

With the Cleveland Indians falling two games under .500, and five out of the wild card race, there has been rising interest into their star right fielder Shin-Soo Choo. Choo, who is making $4.9 million this year and is eligible for his final year of arbitration in 2013, would be more than a rental for any interested teams, and the 30-year old is a very attractive option for many...

Report: Indians Might Trade Justin Masterson, Red Sox Among Teams Who Have Scouted Right-Hander

Justin Masterson back in Beantown? It might never come to fruition, but the Red Sox did scout the right-hander on Saturday, according to CBS Sports' Danny Knobler. The Rangers reportedly also sent scouts to watch Masterson's start in Minnesota, during which he got roughed up by the Twins. According to Knobler, the Indians have told teams that they may trade Masterson, who...

Indians DFA Derek Lowe

As a Braves fan, this amuses me way more than it should. The Indians have designated starting pitcher Derek Lowe for assignment. Lowe was acquired by the Indians from the Braves this past offseason in essentially a salary dump, with Atlanta picking up $10 million of Lowe's $15 million salary in 2012, the final year of a four year pact he signed with the Braves prior to the...

An Open Letter to Chris Perez

Dear Chris Perez, I hope this is all starting to make some more sense. The trials and tribulations of a fan base scorned, essentially lied to and perpetually left holding the bag of disappointment, have all bubbled up to the surface in a Vesuvian fashion. Despite your outwardly vocal and oftentimes unsolicited opinions, there’s a reason why many Cleveland fans wanted you to stay...

While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email at tips@waitingfornextyear.com. “While the Indians essentially decided to stand pat – or at least put off a large organizational decision until the off-season – that doesn’t mean that there weren’t...

ESPN Cleveland: Chris Perez will not be traded

According to T.J. Zuppe at ESPN Cleveland, Chris Perez will not be traded at the deadline. https://twitter.com/TJZuppe/status/229955140772311041 Perez has been a lightning rod for controversy all season weighing in on attendance and even the Cleveland Browns. As the Indians sit in no man’s land in the standings many fans clearly moved them from the buyer column to the seller column...

The Nats Shouldn't Sign Derek Lowe

Starting pitcher Derek Lowe was designated for assignment by the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday night, paving the way for other teams around the league to make a move to grab him. In case you're not familiar with what happens after a player has been DFA'd, within the next 10 days, the Indians have to trade or release the veteran righty who is due $15 million this season....
