Game One Hundred-Eighteen - Cubs 7 Padres 1
WP - Rich Harden (8-7) LP - Mat Latos (4-3) Save - None

Once the offense put runs on the board, Harden began attacking hitters and found a rhythm.
The Padres did not manage a single baserunner against Harden after the second inning until a two-out walk by David Eckstein in the sixth. Harden threw 41 pitches after two innings ... and fini...

Harden Mans Up for Cubs
The Cubs needed somebody to man up, and save them from being swept by the lowly San Diego Padres. That someone turned out to be Rich Harden, who continued his post-All Star resurgence by giving up only one hit in 7 innings, and leading the Cubs to a badly needed 7-1 victory at Petco.

Stumbling Cubs Face Rookie Mat Latos

Harden helps Cubs avoid embarassing sweep
Rich Harden threw seven shutout innings and only allowed one hit as the Cubs avoided an embarrassing sweep from the San Diego Padres. The Cubs offense was led by Milton Bradley and Aramis Ramirez who both hit home runs in the 7-1 victory. Can they team build from this as they head to Los Angeles?
Cubs Win One
Rich Harden allowed one hit over seven innings as the Cubs downed the Padres 7-1. After struggling in the first half of the season, Harden turned it around after the all-star break. He’s posted a 1.64 ERA, becoming nearly unhittable. He’s reduced his walks allowed a bit, but his batting average allowed [...]
