The maddening Scott Downs slump of the last four weeks isn't so mysterious now. It's hard to pitch effectively when your left foot is in constant pain. A source close to the trade talks for right-hander Roy Halladay said that it was a quiet morning at Rangers world headquarters in Arlington and it now appears unlikely that the former Cy Young Award winner will join the Rangers for a playoff push.
