Brad Lidge Activated from DL

Prior to Saturday afternoon's tilt against the Reds, the Phillies announced they have activated closer Brad Lidge from the disabled list. To make room for Lidge, the Phillies designated Tim Lahey, who they recently claimed from the Cubs, for assignment. Lahey never appeared in any games in his short career with the Phillies, although he could remain with the team and be sent down to the minors if no one claims him.

Lidge's return solidifies a bullpen that suddenly looks a whole lot stronger.

All I wanna know is why the hell we didn't get to see him today. They got 7 strong innings out of Eaton which is a miracle in itself...use a setup guy in the 8th (Gordon/Romero/Madson) and Lidge to close in the 9th! Why would Charlie leave Eaton out there in a 1 run game? He is horrible at utilizing a bullpen.

romero and madson were not available do to fatigue, the worst move was jd durbins dad making love with jd durbins mom and creating him, he sucks

Just so you know, JD's in the minors, it was Chad out there today blowing the game.

Agreed. Eaton had a low pitch count, but Manuel was playing with fire thinking Eaton would continue to be effective out there. Just another Manuel blunder to add to the list.

Seriously, what a horrible decision. Why press your luck with Eaton? Maybe he was trying to rest his bullpen, and idk if Romero was available b/c he's pitched like every game... but start off the 8th with Gordon.

I was looking on in disbelief when Durbin came into the game in the ninth and walked the first 2 batters. Why not start Lidge off in a non-save, crucial ninth inning?

I think Romero was unavailable because he pitched three days in a row, which means they should have put in their other lefty reliever to face a lefty like Bako at the end of the game. Oops, they only have one lefty reliever!
I don't think Durbin has much experience in close 9th inning situations in his career.

I think Romero could pitch everyday. Between him and Victorino, I'm not sure who has more energy.
