PITTSBURGH(AP) Carlos Zambrano won for the first time since July 22 by limiting the slumping-again Pirates to two runs over six innings, and the Cubs finished off a three-game sweep by beating Pittsburgh 8-5 on Wednesday.

I’ve begun these now because a lot of what happens the rest of the way is meaningless. Lou may skip a starter or a player and give some playing time to the so-called younger players. Also...

Earlier in the year, Angry proclaimed the Cubs mantra for 2009, "Just Get It ******* Done." Well, they didn't and the season is practically over. Things have been pretty slow here at the College. Only 5 posts from last month and this will probably be the last Cubs post of the 2009 season. Don't worry though, COI has already moved onto the Bears, who will open up with the Packers...

A new year, a new scapegoat. Last year's playoff failure was blamed on the Cubs being too right-handed. Now, at least based on what Cubs manager Lou Piniella recently had to say, the thinking is that the Cubs are too slow.
Lou's need for speed aside, it is true that the Cubs are a slow, plodding bunch. They rank last in the NL in stolen bases. And while the stolen base has not...
