I admit it, in 2007 when the Mets signed Moises Alou to a one year deal worth 7.5MM with an option for the next year I supported the move. At what power hitting corner outfielders were costing the move made sense and even if he was an injury risk at 40 y/o, the team had Milledge, Martinez and Gomez to cut their teeth in the majors when he went down. Even though he only appeared in 87 games, after hitting .341 with a .521 Slg pct. it made sense to bring him back especially after the team got younger in right field by replacing Sean Green with Ryan Church.It was a mistake to bring back Alou, the team was relying on his right handed power bat and when he only appeared in 15 games the team never seemed to replace the production they expected from him.
