Everyone is already sick of the Mitchell Report, but these lawyer-bloggers keep it interesting. East Coast Bias picks apart the crafty and vague denial made on behalf of Roger Clemens.

Great article. Clemens has always been a total scumbag. If Bonds and McGwire miss out on the Hall with no positive tests, I hope that Clemens does too.

The guy is almost as big an egotist as Bonds. He just plays everyone for money now. Let me see how much I can hold out for. Of course , some freakin' team always bows to him and gives him what he wants. If we're lucky, he's done now.

always knew it when he suddenly tore up league after turning mediocre in BOS...Clemens is a mercenary...with a ammo strap on shoulder filled with "treats"...that guy...proud of ya dad!, Cody and all your children

The way I see it, Clemens won 141 games from 1998 on, those victories should be discounted which would put him at 213, still decent numbers.

Pete Rose was a hall of famer BEFORE he bet on baseball, too. This whole "Bonds was a superstar BEFORE he cheated" is the dumbest shit I ever heard. If someone waits until they turn 40 to murder someone, they don't take into consideration that "he didn't kill anyone for the first 40 years of his life, so, we're gonna let him off with a warning!"

Clemens' decision to cheat wipes out his achievements prior to making his dumb choice. If he's innocent, he will sue for slander. If he's guilty, he'll give some weak denials and fade away.

That said, the entire era is tainted. It's a mess.

On the other hand, I can't blame them for trying to gain a competitive advantage. It's money in the bank. But, in the long run, what does it do to the long-term health of the players?
  • This is so sad. I wish Griffey would've got injured so often. He was the best ever.....AND NO STEROIDS.

I've always question Griffey. He was spectacular, he went to a new team, and then he suddenly had chronic knee and hamstring problems. Connective tissue problems are a hallmark of steroid use.

Don't forget that not being in the Mitchell Report is not the same as being innocent. If the clubhouse guy had been with the Mets or Twins or Royals we'd have gotten an entirely different set of names.
  • if it is true he should still be allowed in the hall of fame

Why......they ain't letting the greatest hitter of all time in? Why should they let any of these guys in?
    • JReddish
I think this is the perfect time to let Jim Rice and Goose Gossage in. If we're going to be inducting Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, etc., we had better let in the guys who were borderline under the "old" numbers.

Maybe they should put a HGH display in the Hall of Fame and just let everyone know that these are the guys that made it in because they took HGH.
