Cory Lidle Talks Shit About Phillies

New Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle didn't waste any time before giving reporters his thoughts about his former Philly teammates. "Unfortunately, over the past few years, I haven't had a clubhouse that expected to win with me," Lidle said. "We'd go to the field and it's almost a coin-flip whether the guys behind me are going to play 100%. ... sometimes it seemed like winning didn't matter of all. That was just kind of a feeling I got."

Lidle's lucky he got traded to an American League team, and he doesn't have to worry about a Philly pitcher putting a baseball in his ear.

Lidle seems to like to open his mouth. Remember, this is the guy who ran his mouth about Bonds earlier in the year (not that he didn't have a point then, and doesn't have a point now). He's awfully chatty for a guy who is not exactly a front-line starter.

Billy Wagner talked a lot of shit when he left the Phillies as well. He said his teammates called him a rat and were hoping he would fail. Maybe contracts aside, this was a big part of the major housecleaning Pat Gillick was attempting to undertake before the trade deadline.

Arthur Rhodes must really like and respect Corey Lidle!

"He is a scab," Rhodes said. "When he started, he would go 51/3 innings and (the bullpen) would have to win the game for him. The only thing Cory Lidle wants to do is fly around in his airplane and gamble. He doesn't have a work ethic. After every start, he didn't run or lift weights. He would sit in the clubhouse and eat ice cream. ... He shouldn't say that, he shouldn't say anything like that because he is a scab. He crossed the line when guys like me, Flash (Tom Gordon) and (Mike) Lieberthal were playing. He is a replacement player."

Wow! Where'd you find that?

Now that's a great article...Arthur Rhodes...who would've thought it?

Good for Cory Lidle, he still gets to have Bobby Abreu playing at half speed behind him in the Bronx. I thought he was the guy that most of the Phillies had a problem with.
