Seattle Times:
Just finished chatting with Carlos Triunfel, pictured above, who spent part of the morning doing agility drills to recover from the broken lower leg he suffered last April. Triunfel also suffered ligament damage to his ankle.
Anyhow, he's progressing nicely and should be on the field here at the Arizona Fall League in a few weeks. He told me the Mariners plan to have him play at shortstop, but also second and third base.
The idea is to get him on the field for a couple of weeks down here. Nobody wants to rush him, since he isn't going to make up his entire lost 2008 season in just one winter.
So, I'm at Surprise, Ariz. right now, where the Peoria Javelinas are visiting the Surprise Rafters. Dustin Ackley makes his AFL debut today, playing center field and batting ninth. I just got off the phone with his dad, John, a former minor leaguer, who told me some interesting things I'll be writing up in a story for tomorrow.

Peoria could not overcome that two-run deficit, but gave it a shot. Dustin Ackley roped his second hit of the day into left field in the ninth to load the bases with one out. But a strikeout and then a groundout by Mariners prospect Juan Diaz ended the game.
Quite a debut for Ackley. Both of his singles were the opposite way to left...
