DENVER — Matt Diaz has been of the league's hottest hitters in recent weeks, and Jeff Francoeur has been one of the league's worst-hitting outfielders all season. But Francoeur was back in right field Thursday, his second consecutive start since Diaz ended a streak of five consecutive multi-hit games.

I am just stunned by this.
Francoeur has a .282 OBP this year, and a career OBP of .308.
Moreover, he has 5 HRs this year on over 300 at-bats, and an OPS+ of 68.
Last year, in 652 at-bats he hit...

Mets, Braves make a deal The slumping Mets have traded OF Ryan Church to the Braves for OF Jeff Francoeur. The injury-ravaged Mets are trying to avoid falling further back in the NL East race. Church is hitting .280 with two home runs and 22 RBIs. Francoeur is hitting .250 with five homers and 35 RBIs.

Omar Minaya had to find a way to sell some sort of hope to his team as well as his fan base as the Mets' season collapses around him, and that's what he has done here, trading Ryan Church to the Braves for Jeff Francoeur.

The Atlanta Braves were coming off two straight World Series appearances when they signed Greg Maddux before the 1993 season, turning a strong pitching staff into a dominant one. Maddux's lead role in his 11 seasons in Atlanta will be celebrated next week when his No. 31 is retired by the Braves.

In a move that truly surprised me, the Atlanta Braves traded Jeff "Golden Boy" Francoeur to the New York Mets for Ryan Church.
From all I can gather, the two are a wash on defense.
Francoeur has the better arm, but Church has the better range.
The issue lies with the bat.
Is Church an upgrade at all? Or is he going stick his left-handed bat in the lineup and stink up...

A trade that was just announced: The New York Mets have traded right fielder Ryan Church to the Atlanta Braves for struggling right fielder Jeff Francoeur.
I'd have to say the Braves win this trade, as they get a good young hitter in Church.
This is the second outfielder the Braves have acquired, the first being Nate McLouth.
So far this season, Church is hitting .280 with two...

The Mets traded Ryan Church to the Braves for Jeff Francoeur. Hopefully this isn’t what the Braves needed to take the division, but I’m more concerned about Jeff. He’s hitting .250, which is more than he hit last year, and has five home runs.
Presumably it was power and defense that attracted Omar to Francoeur. He does have a good arm. I don’t know...
