PLAYERS: Todd Helton
TEAMS: Colorado Rockies

Todd Helton came to camp roping homers over the right-field wall, admittedly weighing over 225 pounds. After a stomach virus sent him to the disabled list, Helton played 2006 at around 200. I examine the effects this could have on fantasy.

  • Things like this remind me of all the various offseason workout stories that I always try to ignore, but ultimately buy into. I'm surprised no one has gone public with their 30/30 goal and that the manager is planning on giving them the green light this year (aaron Rowand anyone?). This might help Helton jack a few more homers when he's in the lineup, but adding weight doesn't necessarily cure a bad back. I'm staying put on draft rankings. If people ignore him on draft day, I'll grab him. If not, I'll let someone else deal with him.
  • Basically my sentiments exactly, MasterBlaster. Well put.
  • I wonder if he worked out with Bonds in the off season.
