Catcher Paul Lo Duca left yesterday's Mets/Yankees game in the 4th inning with a bruised tricep. He was struck by a pitch by Yankees starter Chien-Ming Wang in the first inning. After feeling some stiffness in his elbow, Lo Duca was removed from the game. Lo Duca is currently listed as day-to-day, but add him to the growing list of injured Mets stars.
Carlos Beltran is another one of those stars. The All-Star centerfielder has been playing through a quad injury. Judging by his recent slump (3 for his last 26 at-bats with 1 RBI), you can see his game has been obviously affected. Right now, Beltran is in a much tougher spot then Lo Duca. If Lo Duca needs a couple days off the serviceable Ramon Castro can fill in. With Moises Alou and Endy Chavez on the DL, Beltran does not have that luxury and he knows it.
