Washington Post:
This was two weeks ago. (By Manuel Balce Ceneta - AP) Joe Beimel was raised in Kersey, Pennsylvania, a small rural town of 3,000 people where all the menfolk grow hunting beards come November. "So I'm growing mine now instead of waiting," he observed this week. "A lot of people where I live have mustaches and beards, so they're probably proud." It’s time to contract the Nationals
Watching any last-place team can be a sad affair, but watching the Sox beat up on the Nationals twice in two days made me wonder why, exactly, we have a Washington Nationals team. Frankly, I think we’d be better without it. Sure, the Rays and Tigers have recently proven that teams can even go from worst to first in the big money era. But I don’t get the sense the Nats...

Nationals Ruin Smoltz Day With 9-3 Win

Nats unable to claw back against Sox
For a ballclub with the worst record in the majors and far too many gut-wrenching losses to count, the Washington Nationals have shown an admirable amount of pluck over the last 2 months. Rarely during this trying season has Manny Acta's team rolled over and played dead. The Nationals may not win very many games, but they can sleep well knowing they almost always go down with...
Orioles scouting report: Nationals update
National League-worst Washington had been playing better recently, taking two of three from both the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays before dropping the first two games in its series with the Boston Red Sox. Washington won, 9-3, Thursday night against Boston and is 6-9 in interleague play, including 1-2 against the Orioles. The Nationals have the worst team ERA and fielding...
