Today may have just been the most bizarre day of the off season thus far.
It began early this morning at 7:00 AM when I read that the Mets had made an offer to shortstop Rafael Furcal. At first I thought, nah... it can't be... but considering I was reading the Los Angeles Times, and that the article was based on direct quotes from Rafael Furcal, it must be true... right?
Turns out that according to his agent Paul Kinzer, Furcal was mistaken and it was not the Mets who made the offer, it was the Giants. Hmm... well they sort of sound the same... and they both have orange in their logo... Okay, honest mistake.
Then later this afternoon, Sweeny Murti is on WFAN announcing that the Giants had just signed shortstop Edgar Renteria. Okay... that's cool I guess...
Now, it's being reported by ESPN that the Giants have denied any deal with Renteria.
Can somebody please tell me what the hell is going on?
Has it finally got so bad and so desperate for hits and attention, that now ev...

Same pen next year !!!
It doesn't take a person with a public relations degree and a vast knowledge of baseball to know what needs to happen with the Mets bullpen. I'm not just talking from a competitive stand point but also for marketing purposes. After two seasons in which the product (the bullpen) has failed to ...

Despite A Fist Full Of Dollars, Mets Won't Spend A Few Dollars More
Despite drawing 4 million fans last season, and the expectations of even more riches on the horizon with Citi Field, the Mets will be winging it this off season rather than using all of their riches to address the teams most glaring needs.
No team in the National League has more team revenue then the New York Mets.

Garland to Mets?
According to the New York Daily News, the Mets are interested in free agent pitcher Jon Garland, believing that Derek Lowe is out of their price range. Garland was 14-8 with a 4.90 ERA in 32 starts this past season, but has averaged 15 wins over the past four seasons. Garland has always been a solid pitcher in the AL, and a switch to the NL would probably improve his numbers. One...
