Everyone wrote off Carlos Delgado including me. But now his has become a everyday super hero and has given the Mets that power they needed.

With the Mets in Florida, Billy Wagner is back in New York playing catch. Wagner, who was assigned to the disabled list on August 5, has been "long tossing" all last week in an effort to stretch out the stiffness in his right shoulder.

The Philadelphia Phillies have released Kris Benson. Benson, 32, was 1-4 with a 5.52 ERA in 11 starts for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He did not pitch at all for the Phillies in 2008, after being signed in February.

In Jerry Manuel's brief two-month tenure as Mets manager, he lost his closer (Billy Wagner), two starters (John Maine), second baseman (Luis Castillo) and a pinch hitter/utility man (Marlon Anderson).
He also adopted a (un)healthy list of injured troops including Ryan Church, Pedro Martinez, Moises Alou, Angel Pagan, Orlando Hernandez and Matt Wise.

Today will be the first day off for the Mets in 23 days (August 4th)...The Mets went 16-7 in those 23 days and it's been a tipsy-turnsy ride to say the least. In those 23 games in 23 days the Mets had a 3 game win streak, a 6 game win streak, and a 4 game win streak.. Mets last 10 games showed that they were tiring, going 6-4.
The Mets players will probably sleep in late...
