So what better opportunity than this to run through a list of this season's "Anti-All-Stars." Anti-All-Stars is far too bland a name, though, so we decided to name the team in honor of Andruw Jones. After all, he was the poster child for guys not earning the lucrative contracts bestowed on them last season. We'll sort through each position and find the player who is least helping his team in comparison to expectations -- whether monetary or from management.Meet the 2009 Andruw Jones All-Stars originally appeared on Fanhouse MLB Blog on Thu, 02 Jul 2009 15:30:00 EDT . Borbon helps lead grow

The Angels scored a run on a sacrifice fly that turned into an inning-ending double play in the sixth, but the Rangers scored five times in the bottom of the inning to take a 7-1 lead. The first run came courtesy of the first big-league hit of Julio Borbon, who was pinch-hitting for Nelson Cruz (lower back stiffness). Hank Blalock scored on a wild pitch as Jarrod Saltalamacchia...

I second Evan Grant's defense of Kevin Millwood

ESPN.com's Rob Neyer says Kevin Millwood isn't deserving of an All-Star bid, though he'll probably get one. Neyer uses fan graphs to illustrate that Millwood has left a large number of baserunners stranded and benefitted from defense. Basically, Millwood is pitching like he did in 2007 in most categories and getting lucky. First, let me direct you to Evan Grant's defense of Millwood...

Who should be the Rangers' closer right now?

I have argued that if Frank Francisco is healthy that he should be the closer for this team. He was dominant before the shoulder injury sidelined him and deserves a chance to get his job back. But right now, C.J. Wilson should be this team's closer. Maybe you have Wilson do it until the All-Star break or shortly thereafter until you're confident that Francisco is OK. Francisco's...

Recapping last night in Iowa

Josh Hamilton went 0-for-4 against Iowa on Thursday in his second rehab game with Triple-A Oklahoma City, but afterward said that his timing is there even if the results aren't. He will play at Principal Park again tonight, starting in center field. He could be back with the Rangers on Saturday, though he said he will stay on assignment as long as the Rangers tell him to stay. Hamilton...

At this pace, Rangers' Davis will breeze past strikeout record

Rangers first baseman Chris Davis is on pace to strike out 240 times this season, which would obliterate the major league record of 204 set by Arizona's Mark Reynolds last season. Davis had 110 strikeouts in 73 games through Tuesday, an average of 1 1/2 per game. His 100th strikeout came in his 219th at-bat. He reached 100 strikeouts faster than any player in history, by 16 at-bats...

After going 17-9 in June, the Angels led the Texas Rangers by one game in the American League West entering Friday's game. After three months of heartache, injuries and early missteps, the Angels have rallied enough to reach first place as the season's halfway mark approaches.
