While much of today's print coverage of the Mets focuses on the debut of Johan Santana and on a team turning the page on The Collapse, there is a great note in the Post today by Bart Hubbuch concerning manager Willie Randolph's bullpen maneuvers in the 8th inning...

Indians avoid arbitration again in 2008 by signing Blake and Betancourt to extensions. Does the Johan Santana deal hurt the Tribes chances to extend CC Sabathia?
Happy Birthday Johan!
Today, Johan Santana is turning 30 years old! The ace that was traded to the Mets last off-season from the Minnesota Twins, is loving New York! After coming off a minor injury, if you can even call it minor, Johan is looking for another successful season with the Mets. In the first year at Citi Field, hopefully Santana can lead the Mets to their first World Series title in 23 years.
The Johan Santana Saga
After their devastating collapse in 2007, it was apparent that the Mets needed to do something big to get an ace pitcher to lead the rotation. It soon became known that one of the best, Minnesota's Johan Santana, would be on the trading block because he was entering the final year of his contract and...

Ryan’s Jersey Not to Buy: Johan Santana. After months of negotation, it appears Johan Santana is finally on his way out in Minnesota. While the Twins’ pinstripe is a nice look, you’re better off investing in a Liriano or Mauer jersey at this point.

And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Mets...
Buck up, all you lowly Mets fans lurking out there, tonight's the first night of the off-season. And you know what that means: it's time to fire up the old hot stove. Last year you guys found the marble in the oatmeal and got to drink from the fire hose (ie, kept Johan Santana away from the Yankees and Red Sox), and next year you'll get your new stadium. So thinks aren...
I Have a Mancrush on Howie Kendrick
It all started innocently enough. A few years ago, I started hearing about this kid in the Angels minor league system. I was told he was pretty handy with the woo, er...bat. A future major league batting champ, the experts told me. Teams started putting in calls to the Angels asking about Kendrick. They were waving Johan Santana, Miguel Cabrera, even pictures of GM Bill Stoneman...

My Two Cents on Reyes for Santana
I'm still in the process of catching up on December's backlog of e-mail. Back at the end of November I wrote about all of the trade rumors circling about, and made the following statement about the speculation that the Mets would deal Jose Reyes for Johan Santana:
I know there are some who would ma...
New York Met Fans
Ok Met fans. It has been a tough couple of years. Talent-filled teams each of the last two years combined with a high payroll and of course high expectations. I can boldly, but not gladly, say the Mets' last two years were probably the most heartbreaking of any professional sports team in the last two years. Granted, I said heartbreaking, not worst. I consider a heartbreaking...
