(by Ian Koski) Pirates' fan blogs seem to agree that Pittsburgh got the better end of Tuesday's four-player deal. Not surprisingly, neither Joel Hanrahan nor Sean Burnett emerge as factors in most of their assessments, which tend to look at Lastings Milledge as a big-hitting player with lots of potential versus Nyjer Morgan as a mediocre speed player past his prime.

...adding ... Pirates make two trades today. First Hinske to New York for some minor leaguers and then, as Dejan Kovacevic reports here: Nyjer Morgan and Sean Burnett for Lastings Milledge and Joel Hanrahan.
There will be a cascade effect from this deal. Bottom line is no padded cage for Ryan Doumit. He will have to play the field as the Pirates trade away...

I see that the trade is confirmed now, so I thought I'd share my thoughts quickly before the gamethread goes up. What this trade comes down to is this: a rebuilding team can never turn down a trade that offers a net talent gain as big as this one does for the Pirates. I'm not trying to knock Nyjer Morgan here, either, but Morgan is what he is; he's a great defensive player...

The Pirates already dealt Eric Hinske this morning, but they're still talking trades. Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Pirates are close to dealing Nyjer Morgan to the Nationals for Lastings Milledge. However, no deal is done at this point.

I feel like I didn't quite cover all the bases yesterday on this trade yesterday, so I'll put together one more post here about the things I feel like I missed.
As sad as a lot of people are to see Morgan go, I always liked Sean Burnett. I saw his first win back in 2004 as I guess because of that, I always had a special place for him as a fan. He went through a lot of stuff...
