Was that it? Is that how our season ends? With a RBI single to left by Wes Freakin' Helms and another strike-out from Arthur Freakin' Rhodes as the nail in the coffin?
Not quite. But I'm not exactly lining up to buy my post-season tickets.
The Phillies are 3 1/2 back of the Mets, and 4 back of the Brewers with 16 games left to play. Meanwhile, we are tied with Astros...

If Phillies Fail, Manuel Must Go
As yet another game ended with the opposing team going through the celebratory handshake line on your home field, in the middle of a pennant race, one has to wonder how many more times can the Phillies allow Charlie Manuel to fail them now.
Ryan Howard: Going Wild
Ryan Howard crushed a two-run blast in the first to give the Phils all they needed. Crushed his Major League-leading 43rd homer to put the Phils within three games of the Metropolitans in the race for the National League East and 3 games of Milwaukee in the race for the Wild Card.
Phillies have no fire
The way the Phillies have been playing lately, one would think it was the dog-days of summer where games don't have major implications.
Can someone please tell the Phillies that they are in a pennant race, fighting for a spot in the playoffs.
Except for Brett Myers, it doesn't seem like anyone cares. Nobody seems to be fired up.

I'm hardly the only one not sensing a pulse. Seated in a Fishtown bar watching the last half of yesterday's listless loss, a patron turned to me after Chad Durbin allowed the go-ahead run and said, "I'm not feeling it this year, because they're not feeling it this year."

The if's and but's are answered with coin toss
Let's hope this is nothing more than a perfunctory league measure:
On Friday MLB held the official coin toss to determine home field, in the event a division ended the 162-game schedule with two teams in a virtual tie. The Mets lost the coin toss so, if necessary, a one-game playoff between the Mets and the Phillies will be played at Citizens Bank Park on Monday, September 29.
