My apologies for not being able to write this Mets article sooner, but I finally found a few moments that I could write my thoughts down.As we head into the offseason, it was another disappointing season for our beloved New York Metropolitans. Besides the wonderful injuries that the Metsies encountered, there was plenty of off the field issues as well such as Tony Bernazard's challenge to fight the double a team and Omar Minaya saying that Daily News writer Adam Rubin wanted a job with the Mets. Plenty of entertainment to go around, making the Mets season more like a long episode of The Jerry Springer Show. Now as October begins, not only are the Mets not in the playoffs again, but our new hated rivals the Phillies and crosstown rivals ...

Predicting the Mets' Off-season
Several weeks ago, I wrote that the Mets would retain Minaya and Manuel and make only enough moves to give the impression that they are trying to improve the team, with an eye on the pocketbook.
Well, M and M are back and Jeff Wilpon is publicly saying that the Mets will spend "whatever Omar needs" to make the team a contender next year. There has been a minor shuffle...
Do You Remember This Baseball Card? 1991 Topps - Ramon Martinez
1991 was right around the start of a lull in baseball card collecting, at least for me. Ramon Martinez was just heating up right around 1991 though.
At the age of 21, Ramon Martinez, Pedro Martinez’ brother, started 15 games, striking out 89 batters in 98.2 innings with a 3.19 ERA. Ramon would show what he [...]

At one point [...]
The Mets, John Lackey, and the Johan Santana Treatment
The Mets need a top flight starting pitcher. John Lackey is the only TRUE top flight starting pitcher on the free agent market. Match made in heaven?"People around the Angels believe Lackey is likely to go elsewhere, mainly because the Angels won't be willing to pay his asking price. In fact, some are convinced their deal for lefthander Scott Kazmir in August made Lackey...
What Have You Learned? Omar Minaya
What Have You Learned is our very special off-season series that will outline what you've learned, what I've learned, and hopefully what the 2009 Mets have learned about themselves, others, and 2010. Today, we look at everyone's least favorite person with everyone's favorite job: Omar Minaya.Remember how easy it used to be to get a t-shirt that said "In Omar...
Fast adjustment for Wagner
They told us he was a stand-up guy. Here, therefore, is Billy Wagner on his six previous postseason performances: “You have to say it sucks. I’d like to have pitched better. Opportunity also comes with it. I probably only had five save opportunities, but I still sucked. It wasn’t like I was setting the world on fire.’’
Twins Gomez feels 'sorry' for former Met teammates
When the Mets proudly introduced Johan Santana as their new ace, nobody thought that the young outfielder the Mets had traded away for him would be chugging celebratory champagne before Santana ever got another taste of the playoffs.
Q: Name the Last Twins Pitcher to Win a Game in the Bronx
A: Johan Santana (2007)Pretty crazy, huh?
Sox Ship Two Minor Leaguers To NY Mets To Complete Wagner Deal
The Red Sox have shipped minor leaguers Chris Carter and Eddie Lora to the NY Mets to complete the late-August trade that brought reliever Billy Wagner to Boston.
Carter, 26, is a left-handed hitting outfielder who hit .294, with 16 HR and 61 RBI in 116 games with Pawtucket this season. He is a .306 [...]
