Eli's MLB Rumors:
After learning that shortstop Everth Cabrera has a broken hand, the Padres reacquired Chris Burke from the Seattle Mariners for a player to be named later. The Padres traded Chris Burke to the Mariners just three weeks ago, and is hitting just .237 in 38 at-bats with the Mariners Triple-A team. The Padres acquired Cabrera through the Rule 5 draft from the Rockies, and traded Burke after deciding that Cabrera had earned a spot on the 25-man roster.Burke probably won't have much impact on the Padres.

Chris Burke Returned
Chris Burke, acquired from the San Diego Padres just before the season started as an insurance policy at multiple positions, has been sent back to San Diego to assume their backup shortstop vacancy.
Terms of the deal have not been made public as far as I know, but chances are that the Padres just returned the [...]
Welcome Back Burke
Today we re-acquired INF Chris Burke from the Seattle Mariners for cash considerations. When we signed Chris over the winter, we thought he had a legitimate chance to contribute to the big league club, especially because we believed that he had been better than his numbers indicated in 2007 and 2008. Chris then came to camp and had a solid spring training, but we had signed David...
About Last Night: O’s Beat M’s, 3-2: Has The Real Danny Boy Shown Himself? Or Is This A Mirage?
The Baltimore Orioles last night defeated the Seattle Mariners, 3-2, in a razor tight game which saw a consistent and focused Daniel Cabrera not walk anyone in eight innings on impressive work.
In the eighth inning, with the score tied 2-2, Nick Markakis hit a solo homer, his only hit, that made all ...
Overwhelming A-Rod Coverage
Rumors begin that A-Rod will opt out of his contract with the Yankees and sign a big deal with the Cubs that includes a stake in the franchise. Boras asks the Yankees for something around $500 million in return for A-Rod's services for the next 10 years. Hank Steinbrenner makes it clear that if A-Rod opts out of his current Yankees contract, then so long A-Rod. Yankees refuse...
Around the Halo 4/21/2009
Coming off a 1-5 road trip the Angels return to the Big A starting a six game home stand against the Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners. This should be an interesting home stand for the club as they try and put the events both on and off the field past them. Monday's off-day couldn't have come at a better time. With a 4-8 record that Halos have a chance to make up some...
Weekly Grades: Sounders Drop Second Straight
The Apple Cup: Well, I guess I won’t be grading the Apple Cup but rather the plan to move the Apple Cup to Qwest Field. Kevin wrote this post arguing why it should not be moved to Qwest. And he made several good points.
But in the end, Kevin overlooks the most important reason of all: money. In our depressed economy, moving the game to Qwest is a far more favorable option than...
Astros Trade for Valverde: Qualls and Chris Burke Gone
Ed Wade must be getting paid by the trade. He has to because he has made yet another trade and is almost done with flipping the entire roster. Just this weekend Chad Qualls and Chris Burke were sent to the D-Backs for closer Valverde.
The writing was on the wall for Burke. After a f...
*Ahem* Uh, is this thing on?
Apparently, I can still post here!I'll post this quick, before Paul notices....The Rainiers season (and their current homestand) began a while ago, and STILL you lack a decent preview. I apologize, morsel readers. In my defense, I was going to use Chris Jakubauskas as the focal point of it, but he went and got himself a job in the M's starting rotation. To think it was...
