The Phillies pounded the Cubs tonight in Pedro Martinez's Phillies debut. Meanwhile down south the Florida Marlins lost to the Houston Astros. Coupled with a victory b the Atlanta Braves the Marlins drop into a second place tie in the NL East.

This also means that the magic number drops two places, decreasing from 48 to 46. This year reliever Ryan Madson switched from 63 to 46. While the lowering of the magic number is a somewhat joyous occasion, I was unable to find a happier picture of Madson in which his uniform number was prominent. So this picture of him wondering what went wrong on a home run to his opponent will have to suffice for now.

Jamie Moyer Should Be Proud of Pedro Martinez

Because Pedro Martinez pitched almost exactly how I imagine Jamie Moyer would have, if the whiner was starting tonight. But he's crying in the bullpen instead. The old school righty was handed plenty of run support during his first five innings in a Philadelphia Phillies uniform. As of right now, his new team is up 12-3 over the Chicago Cubs in the top of the seventh.Martinez...

Pedro Sorta Being Pedro

An interesting game last night, to say the least. Shane Victorino got doused with beer from the stands and, more importantly, Pedro Martinez made his first start for the Phillies. His final line was 5 innings of work with 5 strikeouts, one walk, and seven hits, resulting... ...

Omar Minaya: I Told You So

Of course, one game does not make a season but one must wonder why after the struggles the Mets pitching staff have had this year why Omar Minaya, supposedly a close personal friend of Pedro Martinez, didn't sign the oft injured pitcher both before or even after the season started.I started this bandwagon all the way back in October. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/82617-pedro...

Pedro Martinez to Debut with the Phillies on Wednesday

Also featured on Rotoprofessor.com! In case you've been living in a box, or already switched gears to football season, the long-awaited debut of Pedro Martinez in a Philadelphia Phillies (it feels weird to type that up!) uniform will be made tomorrow against the Chicago Cubs, at Wrigley Field.  The Professor already discussed the usability of Martinez, so I won't go into that too...
