Found June 24, 2008 on Rainout:
For those of you Seattle sports fans who have been looking for a way to quantify just how sorry the state of affairs is up in the Emerald City, have I got the solution for you. Today, Rainout launches the first ever Seattle Sports Index. The index is simple and devastatingly effective. I went back to the 1976/1977 season, when both the Mariners and Seahawks entered our lives and calculated the winning percentages of all "major" seattle sports teams, namely our three major pro outfits and the two dominant men's sports at the UW (basketball and football). These five percentages are averaged out, giving equal weight to each, and...voila, the Seattle Sports Index.

Fig Jam Felix Hernandez, the phenom young pitcher and de facto ace of the Mariners pitching staff, has just gone yard, grand slam style, against Johan Santana.  Oh and he's no hit the Mets through 3 innings thus far.  I hope when he got back to the dugout he slammed his batting helmet on the ground [...]
