The most important part of Thursday's win against New York, in my opinion, was the re-emergence of Jason Grilli. The middle relief for this bullpen has really struggled, giving manager Ron Washington a challenge. (And on Thursday, the bullpen really did the job all the way around).
Grilli, who didn't retire the first five batters he faced since coming off the DL before Thursday, was aggressive with hitters and made his pitches count against a difficult lineup. He had good movement on his fastball and used his slider well. That's the Grilli we saw earlier in the season after he was picked up.
So let's see how you would handle things in certain situations. Scenario: Rangers are leading by one or two and the starter goes 5. You don't have Neftali Feliz, who pitched the day before, but everyone else is a go. Who do you go with?
My choice (and the order late is dependent on lefties and righties in the lineup): Jason Grilli in the 6th, Darren O'Day in the 7th, C...

One Mistake Will Kill You, Yanks Lose Series With 7-2 Loss To Rangers
I didn't get to follow along with much of the game today. I never fare well with staying up on weekday afternoon games. This thing called 'work' usually gets in the way. I had a meeting today from 1-2 so that killed the 1st hour. I'm in a training class also and that kills my chances to listen to it on the radio. My only option is to follow along online. That...

Rangers playing catch-up again
Minnesota scored three times in the first against Tommy Hunter to build a 3-0 lead, and the Rangers have seen an opponent score first for the fourth consecutive game. Joe Mauer had an RBI single, Jason Kubel a two-out run-scoring triple, and Michael Cuddyer bounced one off Hunter for an RBI infield hit.

Walks ruin Burnett’s start, Yanks lose 7-2
A.J. Burnett was cruising well into the fourth inning Thursday afternoon at Yankee Stadium against the Texas Rangers. In fact, he was perfect through 3 2/3 innings. However, after two two-out walks, Burnett gave up a three-run home run to Ian Kinsler. After that, the Rangers were well on their way to a 7-2 victory. It wasn’t all Burnett’s fault. The Yankees left 12...
