What are your impressions of Matt Wieters now?
I am finishing up at Rogers Centre – I can call it Skydome in a blog, thankfully -- after the Orioles were swept by the Toronto Blue Jays in an amazingly forgettable three-game series.
There is truly only one highlight from this series.
Matt Wieters hit an absolute bomb against Scott Richmond that hit the façade just...
O's rookie Reimold has Achilles' tendon surgery
Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold has undergone surgery to repair a partially torn left Achilles' tendon and is expected to be healthy in time for spring training.
Reimold hit .279 with 15 homers and 45 RBIs in 104 games. The rookie had been battling the injury for much of the season and was placed on the disabled list Sept. 18 when the pain worsened.

Curt Schilling won't run for Edward M. Kennedy's seat in the U.S. Senate.
The former Boston Red Sox pitcher made the announcement on "Joe Buck Live" on HBO on Tuesday night. Earlier this month, the 42-year-old Schilling expressed interest in running for the seat held by the Massachusetts Democrat for almost 50 years before he died in August.

Orioles Nut Waits in Vain for Staff to Replace His Withered Wiener
The good people at Consumerist love three things: protecting the interests of the American consumer, baseball, and nitrate-filled meaty concessions wrapped in doughy buns. But when writer Alex Chasick drove up to Camden Yards on Sunday for the Orioles-Red Sox tilt, he was sold a less-than-stellar hot dog and decided to complain. First, the sad excuse for a wiener:
That is HORRENDOUS...

Back in late April, when we were all still young and before the stink of 13 lost seasons hung around the Orioles like a dead man’s gym socks, the O’s looked to their triple-A team for an outfielder.
That's not Albert Pujols. It's Lou Montanez.
Two players from the Norfolk Tides stood out, sporting smoking-hot batting averages and solid power numbers. Nolan Reimold...

Dillon Named Volunteer Coach
University of Iowa Head Baseball Coach Jack Dahm announced that Zach Dillon will serve as the team's volunteer coach. Dillon, a native of Urbandale, IA, attended Baylor University and was subsequently selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 20th Round (595th overall) of the 2006 amateur entry draft as a catcher. His honors include 2005 ABCA second team all-Midwest Region selection...
O's drop fifth in a row
One of the most impressive things about rookie phenom Chris Tillman, something that has set him apart from other heralded young Oriole hurlers in the past, is that he generally throws strikes.
