Ken Rosenthal reports: The Red Sox are on the verge of acquiring catcher Victor Martinez from the Indians, according to a major-league source. The deal is straight-up between the Red Sox and Indians. No third team is involved. The Indians' exact return is not known, but the Red Sox did not include either right-hander Clay Buchholz nor right-hander Daniel Bard in the deal, according to a source.
