Jake Peavy to the White Sox out of the blue. Aaron Poreda and three guys who don't do just a ton for me (though Dexter Carter is gaining fans this season) are going to SD. Peavy has been unwilling to allow a trade to Arlington, so it's not even worth comparing the price with Rangers prospects.

The fact that infielder/outfielder Brent Lillibridge was in the clubhouse before the White Sox' game Thursday against the New York Yankees wasn't a good sign. But things got better when the Sox told Lillibridge their emergency was over and he could board the next plane back to Class AAA Charlotte.

Gordon Beckham struggled big time up until June 29th, batting just .206. with a .299 OBP and he had many errors. Not including today, just over a month later he is batting .305 with a .371 OBP! He has really gotten used to his new position at 3B instead of his normal position at SS. Beckham really has done well fielding having very few errors lately.

The White Sox made a big trade. Then they got a big win. Carlos Quentin homered and had a go-ahead RBI double and Chris Getz delivered a two-run, bases-loaded single Friday night as the White Sox beat the New York Yankees 10-5.
