Happy 4th of July from the CCO!
Weather permitting ... Will Soriano or Fuld his lead off for the Chicago Cubs this afternoon? Following the Cubs walk-off win on Friday, Lou Piniella said the Cubs would be making changes to the lineup. Dave Kaplan reported his sources indicated Soriano would be in the lineup, hitting sixth against the Brewers today ... possibly with Sam Fuld in the top spot in either center or right field. Milton Bradley has only one hit in eight-career at bats against Braden Looper (a home run) while Kosuke Fukudome is 5-for-16 with a double and a home run ... it might be a good time to give Bradley a day off.
The Cubs enter play today two and a half games back of the Cardinals, third place in a very tight NL Central ....

Chicago Cubs: The Implications of Selling the Cubs
This Article was originally posted in January, but the thought process still applies to the recent sale of the Cubs.I would rather watch paint dry than watch a baseball game. Now, don’t hate me. I don’t hate you for not liking futbol (uh, wait. yes, I do). Let’s just agree to disagree. I love futbol, football, and basketball and I just don’t get into baseball, golf, and...
Cubs Take 3 of 4 From Brewers; Get Healthy Tomorrow
I didn’t see much of the game today so I won’t talk much about it. The Cubs won and took 3 of the 4 games over the weekend against the Brewers. This was a huge series for the Cubs and they stepped up. They’ve played great baseball at home all season. The offense has come to life, but they also haven’t faced much good pitching of late. Still, they’ve scored more...
Derrek Lee Grand Slam: the Original Soundtrack Recording
bodman pointed out in the game wrap how Len Kasper somehow kills the excitement on his home run calls, and noted how even a replay of Pat Hughes’ call gave him goosebumps. Pat has a way of doing that. I was listening to the game on Gameday Audio and on that call, Pat transported me instantly back into the 1980s with a call that was totally inspired by Harry Caray. I raved...

7 RBIs for Lee in win
First baseman knocks out 3-run blast and grand slam
After Derrek Lee hit .189 with one home run in April, some cried for his benching. But he's been on fire ever since, hitting two home runs for a career-high seven RBIs in a 9-5 victory over Milwaukee in the opener of a four-game showdown.

Bases loaded walk gives Cubs win over Brewers
Jake Fox drew a bases-loaded walk off Mike DiFelice to force in the winning run with two outs in the 10th inning Friday, and the Cubs beat the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1. Ryan Theriot singled off second baseman Craig Counsell's glove with one out in the 10th and went to second on a wild pitch from DiFelice (4-1). After Theriot moved up on a fly ball, the Brewers intentionally walked...
