Murakami Paved Way For Nomo
Reading my copy of today's Daily Yomiuri, I found an interesting feature piece on Masanori Murakami, whose experience with the San Francisco Giants decades before the Dodgers' Hideo Nomo helped pave the way for future Japanese talent to cross the Atlantic:

Dodgers Pound Giants; Can't Shake Rox
Hiroki Kuroda, whose season up to now has been, for the most part, spent on the disabled list, seems to thrive in September and demonstrated that again by limiting the Giants to three hits over eight innings as Los Angeles stopped their arch rivals 10-3 in the first of six games over the next 10 games.
Up next for Dodgers: Friday at San Francisco
Hiroki Kuroda starts in place of Randy Wolf, who is out because of a stiff elbow.

Hiroki Kuroda had already spent a night in the hospital and three weeks on the disabled list when this happened.
Thankfully this close call with Matt Cain’s broken bat didn’t result in a much lengthier hospital stay and a more permanent trip to the disabled list.
To quote Giants’ TV analyst Mike Krukow…
That’s some bad wood.

Postseason Secret Sauce From The Pinstriped Bible
Stephen Goldman has some commentary on the playoff-bound teams based on Baseball Prospectus' "Secret Sauce":
No. 11 THE LOS ANGELES ANGELS OF ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA, USA
The Angels get knocked down on the power pitching angle, as overall they are a tick below average in strikeouts per nine, and in defense, which has been just average or a little below. Call it the Bobby...
