Wagner Blows it in 9th, Mets Lose to Cards at Home

After letting the game get tied in the 7th, the Mets sent in Billy Wagner to hold the 6-6 tie. After he was taken out, the Mets were down 9-6 and ended up with a loss in Game 2 of the NLCS. It was an up and down game, and an impressive comeback against of the league's most reliable bullpen's.

This is going to be an interesting series...

I cannot tell you how frustrating that implosion was to watch. So Taguchi, who get's brought in for defensive purposes drills a HR off of the Mets' best closer in years. It was so frustrating b/c earlier in the 7th inning Guillermo Mota was facing Scott Spezio w/ two on and Mota threw him two breaking balls that completely fooled him, the next pitch was a fastball down and in that he crushed foul...so what does Mota do? (or what does LoDuca call?) another fastball which Spezio crushed (triple). Fast forward to the ninth, Wagner gets two strikes on Taguchi on two sliders, and Taguchi was way off...so what does he do? Throws him a fast ball that gets crushed...what a mess. Let's just hope they can regroup and win in STL. Let's Go Mets.

Couldn't agree with you more. Some very bad decisions were made...but at least the Mets hit Carpenter decently.
