Rich Rodriguez: Brandon Minor has practiced more this week than he has any other week in more than a month. Hopefully that means he'll be healthy enough on Saturday to play. The team needs the element of downhill running that he provides. Carlos Brown has been limited with tendinitis. Mike Shaw is practicing this week and should be ready to play, after missing last week with a sprained knee. Patrick Omameh has been playing at right guard, with Mark Huyge at right tackle. Perry Dorrestein has been limited with a back strain. The Big Ten made a statement to Rodriguez that Mark Ortmann will not be suspended for this week's game. Martavious Odoms practiced yesterday and will today in a limited fashion. He's still day-to-day, and they won't be sure until Saturday if Martavious can play. Kevin Leach is still starting at MLB. Obi Ezeh is still in the mix, and hasn't let his decreased playing time affect his desire to prepare for games. There's a goal to get more sa...

Could Michigan replace Rich Rodriguez with Jim Harbaugh?

Another year of Rodriguez’s tenure would bring in another recruiting class of light, fast players who don’t seem capable of standing up to the Big Ten’s rigors. Another year of spread offense at a time when defenses seem to be making headway in stopping it could keep Michigan behind the ...

Michigan Football: The Real Problem with Rich Rodriguez

Be careful what you wish for. Rich Rodriguez can’t get a break. He also can’t gripe about it. As his Wolverines continue to struggle on the field, Rodriguez is catching hell from ...Read the full article on Bleacher Report...

Mary Sue Coleman: Michigan Will Be Patient with Rich Rodriguez

Quite a few people out there think that Rich Rodriguez is going to be fired if Michigan doesn’t get things turned around and misses a bowl game for the second straight year.  While I can understand why people would be upset, Mary Sue Coleman basically said on Monday to the Wall Street Journal that there [...]

Mailbag, Part Deux!

Super mailbag week because the mails, they come in. Side note: I try to be good about answering most of the emails that hit the inbox. This has been untenable over the last week. If you sent something and didn't get a response, try again after the Ohio State game. At some point expectations of Rodriguez's success at Michigan can't be based solely on his performance at WV and...

Bob Wojnowski: Rich Rodriguez must focus on defense

Rich Rodriguez tries to stay calm, but the unrest temporarily quelled by Michigan's 4-0 start stirs anew, and some of the concerns aren't going away.

Michigan Fans Are Antsy, But Calls To Fire Rodriguez are Premature

Michigan was routed 38-13 last weekend, by an Illinois team with a 1-6 record.  The catastrophic loss dropped the Wolverines to 1-4 in the Big Ten.  Michigan went five weeks in October without defeating a Division 1 opponent.  What was an apparent leap forward has become further disappointment. Alumni are understandably antsy.  Rich Rodriguez does deserve [...]

Immaculate Redemption

I’ve alluded in the past to the parallels in media and fan perception of both Alex Rodriguez and Rich Rodriguez. While their shared surname is quite likely a coincidence, they certainly can relate to each other when it comes to stereotypes. Alex Rodriguez has been one of baseball’s villains ever since he signed a $252 million contract with the Texas Rangers nine years ago. Before...

Reorientation: Rich Rodriguez is getting warmer

Adjusting to the weekend's new realities. • The clock is ticking. Despite the pervasiveness of a handful of dumb, halfhearted columns after last year's debut flop and legions of "hur hur Rich Fraud" threads all over the Web, Rich Rodriguez has never been on the "hot seat" at Michigan. He hasn't been close to it -- he inherited a mess of youth...

On the Spot: Wolverines sink or swim vs. Purdue

Players, coaches and teams with the most at stake on Saturday. To some extent, Rich Rodriguez has been on the spot ever since he took over from Lloyd Carr at Michigan, and even more so since Nov. 1, 2008, the day his first Michigan team lost at lowly Purdue, 48-42, clinching the program's first bowl-less season in 33 years and its first losing campaign in forty. A certain segment...

Angelique S. Chengelis: Brandon's no Minor gain for Wolverines

Minor, who has battled a nagging high ankle/foot sprain this season, has: a) practiced this week, and b) practiced well, coach Rich Rodriguez said Wednesday.

Mark Ortmann Incident Investigated by Big Ten; Rich Rodriguez Says It's No Issue

Mark Ortmann may be following in the footsteps of Jonas Mouton, but it's still too early to tell. Ortmann seemingly threw a punch to the groin/lower abdomen of Illinois DT Corey Liuget during play...Read the full article on Bleacher Report...
